Reach Trucks
The standard truck for racked storage between roughly 5 m and 12 m. The mast or the carriage travels forward over the straddle legs to place the pallet, so the wheelbase stays short and the aisle stays around 2.7 to 3.0 m with no guidance.
Features
- Two variants: moving mast, where the whole mast rolls forward along the straddle legs, and moving carriage, where a pantograph pushes only the fork carriage out over the legs. Moving mast usually holds residual capacity better at height; moving carriage keeps the mast in one place and stays more compact.
- The straddle legs carry the load wheels, so the truck cannot lift a pallet off the floor in front of it the way a counterbalance truck can. Floor-level work needs a stacker or a counterbalance truck.
- A camera and display at the operator's eye level replaces looking up at the top beam, and is close to mandatory above about 8 m.
- A tilting fork carriage or tilting cab corrects for mast deflection and pallet overhang at height.
- The battery is either rolled out sideways or lifted vertically, and that choice fixes the footprint of the battery-change bay.
