Handheld pneumatic rock drill

A light percussive drill with air flushing, for short holes in rock and concrete where a rig cannot reach. Used for anchor holes, secondary breaking and small-scale blasting rounds.

Features

  • Percussion and rotation are both air-driven, so the machine has no electrical parts and works in wet and confined locations.
  • Air flushing clears cuttings and cools the bit; without adequate flushing air the hole packs and the rod jams.
  • Rod and bit are separate consumables with matched threads, and mixing thread systems wastes both.
  • Practical hole depth is limited by rod length and flushing capacity, typically a few metres for handheld work.
  • Air consumption is high for the tool size, so one drill can occupy a substantial share of a site compressor.
  • A stand or air-leg version transfers the feed force off the operator and roughly doubles achievable penetration rate.

Specifications

Figure Typical range Unit Why it matters
Air consumption 1 800 - 3 500 l/min Often the largest single demand on a site compressor.
Working pressure 6 - 7 bar Directly sets penetration rate.
Hole diameter range 22 - 45 mm Fixes the bit and rod system.
Practical hole depth 1.5 - 6.0 m Limited by rod length and flushing air.
Tool weight 18 - 30 kg Decides whether an air-leg is needed.
