Screeds and Screed Extensions
Fixed-width, hydraulically extending and bolt-on screed sections, plus tamper bars, heating elements and end gates. The screed is the wearing part of a paver and is specified per contract width.
Features
- Hydraulically extending screeds change width on the move, which is how a taper or a widening is laid without a joint.
- Bolt-on sections extend a fixed screed in defined steps and require the machine to stop, so they suit constant-width work.
- Tamper bar and plate wear affects pre-compaction directly and shows up as low density along a strip.
- Heating elements and their thermostats are consumable items; uneven plate temperature is the most common cause of mat tearing.
- End gates, cut-off shoes and joint heaters control the edge, which is where a mat usually fails first.
