Empty Container Handler
Mast machine with a top-lift spreader rated around 8 to 10 t, for stacking and picking empty boxes in depots. Stacks higher and cycles faster than a laden machine because the load is light.
Features
- Rated for empties only. Putting a laden box on an empty handler is outside both the chart and the machine's stability.
- Stacks eight or nine high in current designs, which is what makes a depot's ground area work.
- Twin-lift spreaders take two 20 ft empties in one cycle, which halves the number of moves on that traffic rather than the time per move.
- Mast sway and spreader levelling at nine high limit speed more than engine power does, so hydraulic damping and cab position matter more than kW.
- An elevating or forward-tilting cab is close to essential above six high.
