Reamer Heads and Cutters
Reamer heads with mounted roller cutters, sized to the finished shaft diameter. The head is pulled upwards, so torque and pull capacity govern what can be reamed.
Features
- Cutters are mounted on saddles so individual cutters can be changed at the lower level during a raise.
- Single-row cutters concentrate load for harder rock; multi-row cutters spread it and suit softer abrasive ground.
- Head design has to clear muck downwards freely, because cuttings fall through the raise as it advances.
- Larger diameters are built as segmented or expandable heads so they can be brought through the pilot hole level.
- Cutter bearing seals are the life-limiting item, and cutter change intervals should be planned from the rock strength.
