Solar-assisted hybrid light tower
A hybrid tower with roof or deployable photovoltaic panels feeding the pack, so the engine runs less again or not at all in summer. Useful where the unit stands for months in an open compound.
Features
- Panel yield depends entirely on latitude, season and shading, so a summer figure and a winter figure are both needed before the unit is specified.
- In northern European winter, panel contribution is small and the engine carries the job, so the unit must still be sized as a hybrid, not as a solar tower.
- Panels are a fragile, valuable and theft-prone part of a site unit, so mounting and stowing arrangements matter as much as output.
- Shading from hoardings, structures or plant cuts panel output disproportionately, which rules out many urban positions.
- Deployable panel arrays add set-up time and a wind exposure the folded unit does not have.
Specifications
| Figure | Typical range | Unit | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Panel peak output | 300 - 1 200 | Wp | The headline figure; real yield is far lower. |
| Battery capacity | 10 - 30 | kWh | Still the main store; solar only tops it up. |
| Panel stowed dimensions (L × W) | 1 600 × 1 000 | mm | Affects transport and theft exposure. |
