Telescopic Stiff-Boom Crane
Straight telescopic boom mounted at the rear or behind the cab, for repetitive lifting at a known radius: plant delivery, drainage products, pole setting. Simpler than a knuckle boom and usually stronger at short radius.
Features
- Fewer joints and hoses than an articulated crane, so fewer wear points and quicker daily checks.
- Tip height rather than horizontal reach is often the governing figure, for example when setting poles or feeding a roof.
- Cannot reach over an obstruction and back down. If the load has to go behind a wall, this is the wrong crane.
- The outrigger charts for retracted, intermediate and fully extended positions are the working reference, not the headline rating.
