Excavators

Wheeled Excavators

Rubber-tyred excavators that travel between work points on a road at their own speed, used mainly for utility maintenance, verge work and municipal contracts. They trade stability for mobility.

Features

  • Road travel at up to around 35 km/h removes the transporter from short, repeated site moves.
  • Outriggers, a dozer blade, or both, are what restore digging stability once the machine is on tyres.
  • Axle configuration is specified as rigid or oscillating front, which decides behaviour on a cambered verge.
  • Road lighting, indicators and a braked configuration are needed before the machine can be registered for public roads.
  • Twin tyres or wide single tyres change flotation and the width the machine occupies inside a lane closure.

Specifications

Figure Typical range Unit Why it matters
Operating weight 9 000 - 21 000 kg Interacts with road-registration limits as well as digging stability.
Travel speed 20 - 35 km/h Decides whether self-drive between work points is realistic.
Stabiliser configuration blade plus outriggers Sets lift capacity over the side and behaviour on camber.
Maximum reach at ground level 8 000 - 9 500 mm Governs how much of a carriageway can be worked from one setup.
