Rigid Site Dump Trucks
Two-axle rigid off-highway trucks for prepared haul roads on large earthworks and aggregate operations. They carry more per litre of fuel than an articulated hauler but need the road maintained.
Features
- A rigid chassis puts more of the payload over the drive axle, which lowers fuel per tonne on a maintained road.
- They need a graded, drained haul road; performance falls away quickly on rutted or soft ground.
- Body shapes are chosen for the material - flat-floor for rock, dual-slope for free-flowing aggregate.
- Wet multi-disc brakes with an integral retarder handle repeated laden descents better than dry brakes.
- Tyres are the largest consumable; rim size and ply rating are matched to the road surface and cycle length.
