Diaphragm Wall Grabs and Cutters
Rope-suspended and hydraulic grabs, and hydromills, for excavating diaphragm wall panels under support fluid. Panel dimensions and verticality control are the specification.
Features
- Grab jaw width and length set the panel thickness and bite length, which set the panel joint layout for the whole wall.
- Grab mass and jaw geometry decide penetration in stiff clays and dense granular ground.
- Hydraulic grabs give better verticality control than rope-suspended grabs and correct deviation as they descend.
- Hydromills cut through rock and obstructions that a grab cannot, at higher cost per cubic metre and with a slurry treatment plant.
- Verticality monitoring and recording per panel is what the completed wall is accepted against.
