Piling and Foundation Equipment
Continuous Flight Auger Rigs
Rigs that drill with a continuous auger and place concrete through the stem as the auger is withdrawn. Fast and quiet in suitable ground, with no casing and no support fluid.
Features
- Concrete is pumped through the auger stem during extraction, so the bore is never left unsupported.
- Reinforcement is pushed or vibrated into the fresh concrete, which limits practical cage length compared with a bored pile.
- Output is high in consistent cohesive and granular strata; obstructions and hard rock stop the method rather than slowing it.
- Auger torque, extraction rate and concrete pressure are monitored together, because the relation between them is the quality record.
- Mast height has to suit the full auger string, which is often the constraint on sites with overhead restrictions.
Specifications
| Figure | Typical range | Unit | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Maximum torque | 150 - 400 | kNm | Sets auger diameter and the strata that can be drilled. |
| Maximum pile diameter | 400 - 1 200 | mm | The method's practical diameter range is narrower than bored piling. |
| Maximum depth | 18 - 35 | m | Limited by auger string length and mast height. |
