Controlled-purity 32.5 percent urea solution for engines with selective catalytic reduction, in containers, drums and intermediate bulk containers with dispensing equipment.
Features
- Purity is the specification: trace metals and other contaminants poison the catalyst, and the fluid cannot be judged by looking at it.
- Dispensing equipment is dedicated, because a funnel previously used for oil will contaminate the tank.
- Freezes at about -11 degrees C; vehicle tanks are heated, but stored stock and dispensing lines are not.
- Prolonged storage above about 25 degrees C shortens shelf life by promoting decomposition to ammonia.
- Consumption runs at a few percent of fuel use, so bulk storage becomes worthwhile above a certain fleet size.
