Specialty Fluids & Consumables
Brake and Clutch Fluid
Glycol-ether and mineral-based brake and clutch fluids in sealed containers, in the grades a mixed truck, plant and trailer fleet needs.
Features
- Glycol-based and mineral-based systems are entirely separate: putting one in a system designed for the other destroys every seal in it.
- Boiling point falls as the fluid absorbs water, which is why it is changed on an interval rather than on appearance.
- Wet boiling point, not dry, is the figure that describes fluid in a vehicle that has been in service.
- Small sealed containers waste less than large ones, because an opened container starts absorbing moisture immediately.
- Fluid type is marked on the reservoir cap, and it is the first thing to check before topping up an unfamiliar machine.
Specifications
| Figure | Typical range | Unit | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fluid type | glycol-ether / mineral | the two are not interchangeable in any system | |
| Dry boiling point | above 230 | degrees C | performance when new |
| Wet boiling point | above 155 | degrees C | performance in a vehicle that has been in service |
| Viscosity at -40 degrees C | below 1 500 | mm2/s | cold pedal feel and anti-lock valve response |
| Pack size | 0.5 / 1 / 5 | l | smaller sealed packs reduce moisture pick-up and waste |
