Pumps for moving water and water-borne solids: engine and electric surface sets for keeping excavations dry, submersibles for sumps and shafts, slurry pumps for quarry fines and tunnel arisings, transfer and irrigation sets for clean water, and diaphragm pumps for the dirty intermittent duties nothing else survives. The buyers are civil contractors, drainage and dewatering subcontractors, quarry and tunnel operators, and growers. Flow is the number people quote; total head and solids handling are the numbers that decide whether the pump works.
