Horizontal centrifugal slurry pump
A heavy-cased horizontal pump on a baseplate, belt driven from an electric motor or engine, for continuous slurry transfer in processing plant and quarries. The workhorse of fixed slurry installations.
Features
- Belt drive lets the shaft speed be changed with a pulley, which is how the same pump is tuned to a duty without changing the motor.
- The liner and impeller are replaceable wear items designed to be changed in place, and access clearance has to be designed into the installation.
- Gland water flow and pressure are specified figures, and a gland starved of water fails fast and takes the shaft with it.
- Suction is flooded from a sump rather than lifted, so the pump sits below the sump level by design.
- Bearing assemblies are heavy and separate from the wet end, which is what allows the wet end to be consumed and replaced.
Specifications
| Figure | Typical range | Unit | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Maximum flow | 50 - 600 | m³/h | Continuous duty figure at the design concentration. |
| Maximum total head | 20 - 60 | m | Derated for solids, not the clean-water figure. |
| Liner material | high-chrome / rubber | The main wear-life decision. | |
| Gland water requirement | 5 - 30 | l/min | A starved gland destroys the shaft. |
| Drive arrangement | V-belt / direct | Belt drive allows speed tuning to duty. |
