Sludge & Slurry Pumps

Submersible slurry pump with agitator

An electric or hydraulic submersible with a stirring agitator below the impeller, dropped straight into a settlement pond, sump or tank to lift settled solids. No suction line to block.

Features

  • The agitator re-suspends settled solids so the pump moves sludge rather than the clear water above it.
  • Because the pump is in the liquid, there is no suction line to block — the commonest failure mode of a surface slurry pump.
  • Agitation raises solids concentration at the intake, which raises power draw and wear rate, so the duty has to be sized for the agitated condition.
  • Wear parts are high-chrome or rubber-lined, and on abrasive fines they are consumed in hundreds of hours rather than thousands.
  • Hydraulic versions tolerate running dry and suit ponds whose level swings; electric versions need their minimum submergence respected.
  • Lifting arrangements matter — these units are heavy and are retrieved for every wear-part change.

Specifications

Figure Typical range Unit Why it matters
Maximum flow 30 - 200 m³/h At the agitated solids concentration, not on clean water.
Maximum total head 15 - 45 m Derated for solids.
Solids concentration by weight up to 60 % Agitation raises it; the duty must allow for that.
Agitator type mechanical / jet ring Decides how well settled solids are re-suspended.
Wear part material high-chrome / rubber Sets the consumable cost per hour.
