Rubber-lined slurry pump
A slurry pump whose casing and impeller are lined or moulded in natural rubber, for fine, rounded, non-cutting solids. Outlasts metal wet ends on the right duty and fails quickly on the wrong one.
Features
- Rubber absorbs the impact of fine rounded particles that would erode a metal liner, and on tailings and fine sand it can last several times longer.
- Sharp, angular or oversize solids cut rubber, so the same pump on quarry blast fines will fail far sooner than a metal one.
- Temperature limits are real: natural rubber softens above roughly 65 °C, which rules out hot process slurries.
- Oils, solvents and some chemicals attack rubber, so the carrier liquid matters and not just the solids in it.
- Liner replacement is a clean, bolt-together job with no machining, which is part of the cost case.
- Maximum solids size is smaller than on a metal pump of the same discharge size, because the passages are lined.
Specifications
| Figure | Typical range | Unit | Why it matters |

| Maximum solids size | 10 - 40 | mm | Smaller than a metal pump of the same size. |
| Maximum liquid temperature | 65 | °C | Above it the lining softens. |
| Lining material | natural rubber / polyurethane | Decides chemical and abrasion tolerance. | |
| Suitable solids shape | fine, rounded | Angular solids cut the lining. |
