DTH Drill Pipe
Threaded drill pipe that carries air and rotation to the hammer and carries the string weight. Outside diameter and thread type have to match the hammer and the hole.
Features
- Pipe outside diameter sets the annulus around the string, which is what carries cuttings out of the hole.
- Wall thickness and material grade determine string life in abrasive ground and under heavy pull-back loads.
- Thread type has to be consistent through the string, and thread greasing at every make-up decides thread life.
- Hardbanding on the pipe body extends life where the string rubs a casing or a hard hole wall.
- Pipe length is matched to the rig's mast and rod handler rather than chosen freely.
