DTH Hammers
Pneumatic percussion hammers that run at the bottom of the hole behind the bit, in standard and high-pressure designs. Hammer size and air specification are the whole selection.
Features
- A hammer matched to the compressor's actual delivery at pressure outperforms a larger hammer that is starved of air.
- High-pressure designs raise penetration rate but need a compressor rated for both the pressure and the free air delivery.
- Reverse-circulation versions route cuttings up an inner tube for sample recovery in exploration work.
- Piston, check valve, wear sleeve and backhead are the rebuild items, and they are ordered as a matched kit rather than piece by piece.
- Air lubrication has to be metered continuously; a dry hammer scores the wear sleeve within hours.
Specifications
| Figure | Typical range | Unit | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hammer size | 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 8 | inch | Sets bit range and air requirement. |
| Working air pressure | 10 - 30 | bar | Has to match the compressor available on site. |
