Industrial and Transfer Hose
Hose for air, water, steam, fuel, slurry and chemical transfer, with the clamps and couplings that suit each medium. Specified on compatibility and temperature before pressure.
Features
- Inner tube compound is selected against the medium; a tube that suits diesel will swell in some solvents and harden in hot water.
- Steam and hot-water hose is rated on continuous temperature, and the rating drops with saturated steam pressure rather than staying flat.
- Suction hose carries a vacuum rating as well as a pressure rating, and needs a helix wire to keep it from collapsing.
- Food, potable water and breathing-air hose must not be cut or coupled on a bench that has handled oil hose, so it is ordered and stored as a separate line.
- Couplings for transfer work are usually clamped or swaged rather than crimped, and the clamp type is part of the specification.
