Truck and Bus Driveline and Chassis

Steering Components

Steering boxes, hydraulic steering pumps, drag links, track rod ends, steering columns and shafts, universal joints, oil reservoirs and hoses.

Features

  • Steering boxes are supplied new or as remanufactured exchange, and input and output shaft splines must match the column and drop arm.
  • Steering pump flow and relief pressure are part of the specification, because a substitute with different flow changes steering effort.
  • Play is measured at the wheel and traced through the chain before parts are ordered, as the box is often blamed for worn joints.
  • Steering oil is flushed and the filter changed after a pump failure, since debris will destroy the replacement pump.
  • Column and shaft joints are safety-critical and are replaced rather than repaired.
