Multi-Slope Screens
Screens with several deck slopes in series, steep at the feed end and flatter at discharge. Used for high-tonnage fine cuts where an inclined screen would need an impractical deck area.
Features
- A steep feed section thins the bed quickly, so the flatter discharge sections screen a shallow bed at high accuracy.
- Capacity per square metre on fine cuts is substantially higher than a single-slope screen of the same width.
- Media has to be specified per slope section, because wear rate and blinding behaviour differ along the deck.
- They are most useful above a certain tonnage; below it the added complexity is not repaid.
- Structural loads are higher and less uniform than a single-slope screen, so support steelwork has to be designed for it.
