Diesel irrigation pump set
A diesel-driven pump set on a skid or trolley, for continuous field irrigation from a river, reservoir or borehole header. Sized to a duty point and left running.
Features
- Continuous running is the design case, so bearing arrangement, seal type and service interval matter more than weight.
- Fuel cost per hour is well below a petrol set, and the difference pays for the machine within a season on continuous duty.
- Cast-iron wet ends are normal because abstracted water carries silt, and an aluminium casing will not last a season in it.
- The pump is matched to a fixed duty point — flow at the manifold pressure the irrigation design requires — not to a maximum figure.
- Automatic stop on low water or low pressure prevents the pump running dry when the source drops.
- Unattended running means a bunded base and a tank sized for the interval between visits.
Specifications
| Figure | Typical range | Unit | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flow at duty point | 800 - 3 000 | l/min | The figure the irrigation design is built on. |
| Outlet pressure at duty point | 3.0 - 6.0 | bar | Must match the sprinkler or drip specification. |
| Fuel consumption | 1.5 - 6.0 | l/h | The dominant seasonal running cost. |
| Wet end material | cast iron | Required for silty abstracted water. | |
| Automatic stop | low water / low pressure | Prevents dry running when the source drops. |
