Features
- Bit and reamer selection follows soil type: fluted and blade reamers in clay, hole openers with carbide in rock and cobbles.
- Transmitter housings are rod-series specific, and the slot pattern must suit the locating equipment in use.
- Drilling fluid carries cuttings and stabilises the bore, so reamer selection means little without a fluid programme to match.
- Swivels are rated by pull force and must suit the rig's pullback capacity and the product pipe weight.
- Rod joints are made up to a specified torque; over-torqued joints fail at the shoulder under bending.
