Tandem Drum Rollers
Two-drum vibratory rollers for asphalt breakdown and finish passes on carriageways, car parks and industrial floors. Drum width, linear load and water capacity decide how much surface one machine can keep up with.
Features
- Both drums vibrate, which gives even density across the mat and avoids a tracking line from an undriven drum.
- Split drums allow the machine to turn on fresh asphalt without shearing the surface.
- Oscillation on one drum compacts through horizontal shear and is used on bridge decks and near structures where vertical vibration is restricted.
- Dual water systems with separate pumps keep the machine working when one sprinkler circuit blocks.
- Mat temperature measurement, by infrared readout or handheld probe, is what keeps the passes inside the rolling window.
Specifications
| Figure | Typical range | Unit | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Operating weight | 2 500 - 14 000 | kg | Sets linear load and the layer thickness that can be finished. |
| Drum width | 1 000 - 2 000 | mm | Matched to paver width to minimise passes and joints. |
| Static linear load | 10 - 30 | kg/cm | The comparison figure for asphalt density work. |
| Frequency | 40 - 70 | Hz | Sets impact spacing, which has to suit rolling speed. |
| Water tank capacity | 200 - 1 000 | l | Decides how long the machine runs before leaving the mat. |
