Double-Acting Cylinders
Powered in both directions, for boom, dipper, steering, clamp and lift circuits where the load has to be moved back as well as out.
Features
- Two ports, so retraction speed is higher than extension speed at equal flow because the annulus volume is smaller.
- Cushioning can be specified at one or both ends depending on which direction carries the inertia.
- Rod-end bearing options include plain bush, spherical bearing and threaded eye, and changing type alters pin centres.
- Welded construction suits mobile duty; tie-rod construction suits fixed installations where the cylinder may be stripped in place.
- Position sensing can be added where a controller needs stroke feedback, which has to be decided before the barrel is built.
Specifications
| Figure | Typical range | Unit | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bore x rod x stroke | 100 x 56 x 900 | mm | the three figures that identify a cylinder in one line |
| Working pressure | 250 | bar | with bore, it gives usable force |
| Cushioning | both ends, adjustable | protects end caps and mountings on inertial loads | |
| Construction | welded / tie-rod | decides whether it can be rebuilt in place | |
| Rod finish | hard chrome, 25 micrometre | plating thickness drives corrosion and seal life |
