Sprockets and Segments
Cast and forged drive sprockets and bolt-on segments that carry final drive torque into the chain. Segments allow replacement without splitting the chain on machines built for them.
Features
- Tooth count and pitch must match the chain exactly; one tooth out changes engagement and wears both parts quickly.
- Bolt-on segments cut downtime because the chain stays assembled, but hub bolt pattern and bolt strength class must be right.
- Tooth wear is judged on profile shape rather than height alone, since a hooked or pointed tooth is already past its limit.
- A new sprocket on chain near its pitch limit wears itself out, so the two are normally replaced together.
- Hardness is specified to a depth in the tooth flank, because engagement load acts below the surface.
Specifications
| Figure | Typical range | Unit | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tooth count | 25 | teeth | Must match chain pitch and drive ratio. |
| Chain pitch | 203 | mm | Engagement geometry. |
| Type | solid sprocket / bolt-on segment | Determines replacement method and downtime. | |
| Bolt pattern | number of holes x pitch circle diameter | mm | Segment must land on the existing hub. |
