Features
- Impellers are a routine consumable on raw-water pumps, and a spare set on board is normal practice rather than an extra.
- Sacrificial anodes protect coolers and heat exchangers, and they only work if they are inspected and replaced before they are consumed.
- Heat exchanger tube stacks are cleaned and tested; corrosion at the inlet end is the usual finding on seawater circuits.
- Thermostats and temperature senders are cheap and cause expensive symptoms, so they are checked before the engine is blamed.
- Hose and clip condition below the waterline is a safety item, not a maintenance nicety, and both are replaced on a schedule.
