C-code smooth tyre for pneumatic-tyred rollers used on asphalt and granular layers. The tyre is the compaction tool, so surface finish and thermal behaviour matter directly.
Features
- Smooth tread that kneads the mat rather than marking it.
- Specified as a matched set, because uneven diameters leave visible ridges in the finished surface.
- Pressure adjusted to control contact pressure and the depth of compaction achieved.
- Compound chosen to limit bitumen pick-up on hot asphalt work.
- Ballast weight and tyre pressure are set together; changing one without the other changes the compaction result.
